Lanzarote things to do

Lanzarote things to Do

Lanzarote has a huge variety of wonderful beaches. From the beautiful white sands of the North to the darker volcanic sands of Puerto Del Carmen, you will be amazed by this contrast that is one of Lanzarote’s attractions.

Things to do during your holidays in Lanzarote

The beach in Puerto Del Carmen, known as Playa Grande is a long beach facing the busy resort. There are numerous beaches running from Arrecife airport through to the old town of Puerto Del Carmen. Adjacent to the old town lies Playa Chica, a beautiful exclusive beach. It is host to a variety of sporting activities and you can have diving lessons, rent jet skis, go Parasailing or enjoy of snorkeling.

In the South of the Island next to the resort of Playa Blanca lies the beautiful beach of Papagayo. This fantastic white beach is a must for beach lovers. For those who love surfing the beaches of Famara and La Santa, in the West, both present fabulous opportunities. Famara is famous for its surf but would not be recommended to the fainthearted.

In La Santa you can find the training ground for international sports stars, surrounded by a beach and Wind Surfing lake. At the North of the island, there are a number of white sandy beaches, with the sand blown over from the Sahara desert. In Costa Teguise you will find Las Cucharas which is famous amongst the windsurfing community. It  has been the breeding ground for many international champions.

Lanzarote Shopping

Lanzarote and the rest of the Canary Islands enjoy a special Duty Free Tax status. Cigarettes, Alcohol, Perfumes and Petrol are much cheaper than in Mainland Spain and the rest of the EU. These duty free goods are usually much cheaper in the Resorts and Towns than in the Airport and onboard the Airplane. Cigarettes, Cigars and Alcohol can be purchased at very reasonable prices in nearly every supermarket in the main resorts. Perfume can be purchased in the many Perfumeries that are found in the main resorts. There are numerous Boutiques to be found in the Main resorts, however the best shopping districts are Calle Real in Arrecife, the Biosfera Shopping Centre in Puerto del Carmen and the Deiland Centre in Playa Honda. In Arrecife the main shopping street is Calle Leon Y Castillo. The Biosfera Centre in Puerto del Carmen has many branded clothes shops. The Deiland Shopping Centre in Playa Honda hosts an array of Shops and relaxing cafes as well as a Cinema.

There is a large Market in the old Capital of Teguise every Sunday morning between 8:30am and 2pm. Here you will find a wide variety of items for sale such as hand-made table-cloths, jewellery, paintings, African wood carvings, local wines and of course the fake watches and handbags! Or perhaps just sit back and sample some of the traditional 'paella' or 'churros' and watch the local Canarian dancers in the main square in front of the Church. However, always remember to haggle as the first price given is never the lowest!

Lanzarote Nightlife

Although Lanzarote’s nightlife is not as busy as some of the other Canaries , there is still plenty of nightlife to suit every taste. The centre of Nightlife in Lanzarote is in Puerto del Carmen, however there are Bars and Discos in all of the main resorts. If you are looking for a taste of Spanish nightlife and local nightlife then Arrecife is the place for you.

Lanzarote Attractions

Timanfaya National Park Timanfaya National park is a must-see for any visitor to Lanzarote.
